No matter what you and I call “real” AI, marketers are going to misuse the term on everything.

Certainly wouldn’t want that

stevestevesteve@lemmy.worldto Artificial Intelligence@lemmy.world•state of the artEnglish1·1 month agoThis is the problem with calling everything AI. An LLM isn’t doing surgery, nor is a diffusion model. Computer vision can use neural networks very effectively, but these are wildly different than either of those. But calling something an “AI robot” is giving almost zero information about what it actually is anyway

Right? All of the “if only you gave X11 a chance to develop this it would’ve been fine” at the same time as showing how diametrically opposed the maintenance team’s philosophy is… Not a compelling argument
Interesting arguments but it absolutely reads like fanboyism. The “features missing from Wayland” in particular reads like someone who didn’t care to give Wayland a fair shot

stevestevesteve@lemmy.worldto Animemes@ani.social•Fucking Censorship. That's fucking why Physical Money is fucking best122·2 months agoIt sounds like you’re conflating Bitcoin with cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is power hungry. Not all crypto is proof-of-work, and actually, most aren’t. Not all crypto has insane transaction fees, that’s mostly a Bitcoin thing. These are massive issues with Bitcoin which is why I’m surprised anyone still values Bitcoin at all.

Trust me it’s not the designers choosing to do it this way. There’s management above them saying “hey this other company makes them put in their phone numbers, it must be for SOMETHING, we should too”

tree
Tree isn’t necessarily US-based, it’s just hunting-based. Treeing an animal is just chasing it up a tree, often with dogs. I’d say that’s usually a more British thing than US tbh

Yeah I absolutely love this. Would love more detail on a technical level (what challenges they faced trying to compile for steam deck) but still awesome to hear
