The complete reversal of character development is what killed it for me as well. With the same ending and removing the reversal the ending is 100x better. Just let their growth mean something instead of pissing it all away.

I might be slowly turning into Jeff Bridges.
Edit: missed the joke. My opinions about windows are grounded in my own experience, obviously. I’m the ‘wait for the first SP’ person historically. 10 was the first time I was not excited to install a new operating system. Everything was behind shitty UI that took away simple functionality. Funny enough I’d go back to it over 11 lol.
95, 98, xp, and 7 were all great; each improved on the last. But 7 was the true peak. 10 was pretty good and unfortunately was the turning point into enshitification.
pahlimur@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•A truck bed with a tonneau over it is just an SUV trunk with extra steps.2·3 days agoI will die on the hill of 3/4 ton SUVs, so I agree. I can fit full sheets when needed, drop off 6 kids every weekday, comfortably tow a 10k camper, and keep my dogs in a conditioned space when towing. Another weird benefit is 12ft skinny things fit inside the vehicle. Needed a ladder rack on my old 8’ bed pickup for that.
pahlimur@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What happened that caused you to call emergency services for the first time?5·7 days agoSimilar for me. Neighbors husband figured out we were helping move his now ex-wife out secretly. He came back while we were at her new place and destroyed a bunch of her stuff. He was yelling so loud I could hear it inside my house with headphones on. Called as I was walking over to see wtf was going on.
She fortunately did divorce him and is fighting for full custody of her kids. He’s still an abusive liar, which most people can’t see. He’s a GP in a small town and his nice guy facade is thick.
Fully hate and love this song. It was played every Friday at least once for years.
If it’s a radiative stove, cooking on it will always suck. If it’s inductive, woks will be OK, but gas is king with woks. Or buy a countertop inductive wok thing.
Men are the most pedantic assholes to other men.
Treating women like they are soft little creatures is insanely sexist. Treat them as equals and they will treat you the same. I don’t understand why it’s so hard for other men to understand this.
Edit: i guess my assumption that men shouldn’t be a huge bag of dicks is wrong. No one should ever say something to a male that they shouldn’t say to a female. We shouldn’t need to change our behavior based on the gender of who we are talking to unless we as men fuckin suck.
For me it’s cutting the big toenail too short. I cut it straight across on the inside edge. Leaving about 1/8-1/4 inch of white. Toe builds a callous under it that never goes away. If i cut it short it hurts for a month.

Just why? No one needs to waste their time scrolling past the literal garbage of a reposted gpt response.

Hold your hand out as if to hold an imaginary bow. The handle is tilted forward because that how your hand sits naturally. There isn’t much asymmetry besides the handle tilt.

And no one else. Catholics sort of stood up to them, which is why we have vague references to religious institutions resisting nazis. But yeah Christians went balls deep almost immediately into being nazis.
Right, I’m not arguing that landlords are good. They seem to be a symptom of a system set up to encourage their shitty behavior.
I do wonder if a housing co-op is protected by law in some way. Or more likely it relies on a few people having good intentions who are running it. A housing co-op with no intent of profiting, ever, would be a good system imo.
Mod removed my post without reason. Maybe cussing offended them.
The market seems to self select for bad landlords. All the well intentioned ones I know got burned and stopped renting.
People not understanding the actual cost of owning and maintaining a house is my only argument for landlords. Or if you maintain it yourself it’s a knowledge and time requirement.
Not saying landlords did a great job maintaining the rentals I’ve lived in. But there was definitely a point in my life where renting made more sense than owning a house.
We really need more control on rent prices so only high density housing is rentable. Or something, I don’t have answers for why my shitty house is worth 70% more than it was 5 years ago.
They are bloated for no reason is my problem with them. I have an older chevy 3/4 ton for hauling our camper, boat, and the shit for renovating our fixer upper. The capability of a modern 3/4 ton is like 50% more at most, yet it’s like 3 feet taller for no reason. I can still haul 3k+ lbs and tow 12k, but I can still see over the hood with very little issue.
A modern half ton is bigger than my 2001 3/4 ton truck. The bloat is real.
We do. They were printed from a print service that ships them to you. We do physical albums because I find it easier to hand to visitors than handing them my phone or trying to curate albums I can share digitally. Also don’t have to manage who has access to my digital albums.
pahlimur@lemmy.worldto Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Study finds electrifying SUVs could actually increase emissions by using up scarce battery material that could otherwise be used to electrify smaller cars and e-bikesEnglish8·3 months agoPrefacing with, I want an e-bike.
As someone who commuted for a decade on a non e-bike. I’m legitimately wondering how we integrate them into existing infrastructure in the US. 50cc is the limit for gas engines before you need a motorcycle license, which at the high end is ~5HP. I’m seeing e-bikes with way more than 5HP being used on sidewalks. I don’t have an answer to the problem but it scares me to have such easy access to basically motorcycles that are classified as bicycles. I spent 2 decades sweating and learning to ride fast, now an inexperienced idiot can do 20+ mph when they have no business going that fast.
I was thinking of GoT when I wrote this. It’s similar, but GoT was so much worse.
