There are literal nazis in the Trump movement. Even if you chalk Elon’s double salute as him being high there are still hundreds to thousands of self ascribed nazis within maga. They fly nazi flags, they have nazi tattoos, and they idolize hitler. The KKK and every other white supremist organization supports MAGA. Nazis use fascism to achieve ethnic cleansing. Thats the crux here. IIRC the old saying goes if theres 12 people at the dinner table and 1 is a nazi, there are 12 nazis at the dinner table. So ratio be damned, anyone who stands with MAGA is a fascist and a nazi.

The notion that everyone calls everyone they don’t like a nazi ignores the context. Trump and Maga DARVO everything. They project and accuse others of the crimes they commit. They were going to call the other side nazis regardless. The idea that we’re ‘watering down’ nazism because literal nazis don’t like being called out is ludicrous.

The nazi regime is the most apt and accurate historical parallel of what is happening in the USA. There is literally no more concise term. Fascism alone does not encapsulate the racist bigotry behind MAGA. Even christo-fascism is the wrong term.

Survivorship bias dictates their perspective can’t encompass the large subset of Germans for whom the nation did not serve.
Also there’s very little to substantiate the idea that people were less politically ignorant or more concise and articulate back then. If anything this view of yours further proves that your sources for nazi culture didn’t represent the average mentality.
