Gov. Greg Abbott is calling on the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to enforce the removal of “any and all political ideologies” from Texas streets, warning that cities who do not comply will “face consequences.” Non-standard surface markings, signage and signals that “do not directly support traffic control or safety” are prohibited, according to a Wednesday news release from Abbott’s office.

Wait until they find out that roads, their design and mandated parking are all expressions of political ideologies.

Toll roads are usually built because no one will vote for taxes for new roads.

Not in Texas. SH 183’s toll road in northern Austin was already entirely paid for by tax dollars. They installed tolls, anyway.

Toll roads are built because someone will profit from it, typically at the expense of the taxpayer.

A less good service is provided and investment in a better alternative ignored entirely.
