If anyone was legitimately in this situation, please, let me hook you up.

People out here acting like Disney is the only streaming service with kids shows. People out here acting like kids need to watch movies and shows all the time. People out here acting like they never heard of board games. People out here acting like your kids bother you. People out here acting like they don’t like their families.

.mkv is preferred but I’m not exactly discriminatory, and a proper treasure hoard tends to build up a variety over the years

You also need to maintain your collection. Going back and re-downloading/re-ripping everything in modern codecs to improve quality and save space. I’m currently upgrading my movie collection to H.265 HEVC & my music collection to lossless MP4.

Worst case scenario, you can’t find or make a better copy of something. You still need to reencode it to keep it playable and prevent bit rot. I have a small cache of Windows Media Audio files that need to be converted into MP4s before it’s too late.

Fuck me. I sometimes download stuff in 720p to save space. 1080p is plenty good enough on my 55’ TV. Still, I’ll smoke a bad copy if a higher quality is available.

PITA. My Intel NUC, daily driver, runs my 40’ TV as a monitor and casts to my 55’ for movies. Can’t imagine a use for physical media except for nostalgia. I do have ancient stereo gear!

All right I got to step in here. Because not everybody sits at home all day long with their kids and does nothing. I travel all over the place in the past month I’ve done two 10-hour trips one way so that means 10 hours there 10 hours back. And at least once a month I’m traveling multiple hours a day. And yeah might be better if I were to download something but a lot of areas I don’t have internet service sometimes I can download it sometimes I can get it the tablet to play it and stuff like that however streaming services do have their purposes do have their places that a lot of these DVDs and things like that simply can’t touch. And while I do run Plex and I do sell the seas quite often I don’t have time to do that anymore at this point. I haven’t even been able to touch my Plex server and I have probably a hundred gigs of movies that I need to upload onto there to be able to get them to play.

I’m not sure my little kids know much about Disney. Powerhouse when I was a child, but they just surf YouTube on their phones.
