The new Nissan LEAF will start at just over $25,000 before incentives. Based on the latest order guide data, the entry-level 2026 Nissan LEAF S will be just over $4,600 more affordable than the S+ trim that will arrive at dealers first. Per our analysis, it'll represent a 10% price cut, making it one
I like the idea here. Keep in mind these do cut some corners, such as having no battery cooling (impacting battery longevity). At least they abandoned the stupid CHAdeMO charger the old Leafs had.
EDIT: Some of the press for this refers to “new liquid cooled” battery tech, so I may be wrong. Other articles I read say it doesn’t have any, or don’t mention it at all.
Wtf, why did they cut corners on the battery cooling of all things? If they would just replace the aesthetics with regular ones (i.e. glass rood, basic tailgate design, etc.), they could easily slash around 2k from that alone. I would be happy to pay for a 28k-29k trim with the battery tech from the higher trims untouched.
Yes, that’s why I said I am willing to pay a little more than 25k for the base model if they don’t touch battery-related components. Lower range, sure, but not important core things like battery cooling. It’s like buying a gas car where the base model has a smaller coolant capacity. Essential stuff should be the same across all trims.

The battery heating/cooling systems are significantly more expensive to add than anything trim related.
