Hello admins and users of Meta. I’d like permission to use this instance to create a rather unsavoury community that is akin to /r/mordbidreality on Reddit.
It will be a community that is R18+, NSFL, with content focused on gore and death, and a strong emphasis on medical and philosophical discussion.
I’m still considering how it will be managed because it will contain extremely shocking and distressing content of the dead and dying.
I will moderate it very seriously, with strict rules and minimal humour on the subject matter. Political discussions and topics will be avoided and kept at an absolute minimum, meaning no largely controversial topics such as Israel/Palestine, just because of how volatile it is. I was thinking of creating a ‘No active conflict’ rule, but I’m unsure whether to include Ukraine, as it has some incredibly fascinating trauma first aid videos from a combat medic’s perspective, along with some remarkable footage.
Naturally, such a community will be very distressing to view or accidentally stumble upon, which is why I’m asking for permission to create it.
Thank you.
No
I don’t understand why you would want an Australia-focused instance for this. A general-purpose instance like .world or shitjustworks seems more appropriate, and far more likely to find an audience who will engage in the community, rather than hosting on a tiny laidback instance where I’d wager either zero or one person would participate and the rest would be annoyed at all the distressing posts regularly appearing high on our feeds, because we have less local posts than those general-purpose instances.
Agree. Or to summarize in Aussie lingo:
“Yeah, nah.”
Maybe if everything that appears on the feed was blurred it could be accepted.
But i don’t see how this wouldn’t contravene Rules 1, and 5 quite often.
Rule 1: Grandma’s are unlikely to be shown this kinda stuff.
Rule 5: I think theres some pretty strict rules about death related content in Australia. I’m not on top of these laws, a moderator though would absolutely have to be.
Would this include things like medical videos of successful surgeries and such? In that case I happen to have the recording of my lens implant, I’ll have to double-check if there’s no identifying information in there but I’ll be glad to share it if people want to see.
I’ll also use this thread to ask other instance owners, just to save on creating multiple threads across multiple instances. I apologise in advance for the pings.
@[email protected] – Do you know who is the admin for the quokk instance?
@[email protected] – Is lemmy.world willing to accept such a community?
I’ll bring this up with the team
