The PM notes the statements Australia has put out alongside like-minded countries such as the UK, Canada and New Zealand.

“Australia, as I’ve said, as much as people would like to think, that somehow the Australian government can change the actions of the Israeli government,” he says.

The PM was asked about Australia sending “non-lethal” F-35 parts to Israel, which are then used for military equipment. The government has been criticised by some, including the Greens, for sending military parts to Israel.

Albanese says it’s “nonsense”, and that not sending F-35 parts to Israel is it denies the Israeli government ownership of their own actions.

He says Australia has signed contracts with aircraft manufacturers that it is obliged to meet.

Albanese says not sending non-lethal parts to Israel would mean that Australia withdraws from a 16 or 17 country supply chain for the F-35 aircraft.

“What it would do were Australia to withdraw from that is to withdraw from participation with those, 16 or 17 countries that are involved in that supply chain,” he says.

So it’s basically as I said here: https://aussie.zone/post/23552893/18234912

We’re not risking Australia’s future defence because of a war between two middle eastern countries, hopefully SEC Plating can clean the wall and get some security

What an incredibly weak excuse. He’d never use that excuse to try and explain sending weapons to Russia: no, we just sanction them.

Ok. Then withdraw. There should be no excuse for abetting genocide. Certainly not one as incredibly paper-thin as that.

Russia is our enemy though and their jets are junk, you’d need to try and apply it to an ally we are in a global partnership with and supplier of the best fighter jet in the world

That’s the point. Any country committing genocide should be “our enemy”, and treated as such. The constant pro-genocide takes from Albanese and yourself are infuriating.

i get it, every couple of months i get to read another article about how Russia has made another step forward, its been years now and i’m still mad that apparently the entire west is not capable of holding them back… but having to acknowledge the west thought it could make friends with russia for 2-3 decades and let its armies fall into a state, rebuilding takes time and no one wants to put their soldiers on the front line as it would be political suicide

Ukraine admits Russia has entered key region of Dnipropetrovsk

                https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c17n1p24yv9o

that said Israel and Russia are nothing alike and our relationships with them are completely different, I think trying to draw a simple, ‘russia bad israel bad therefore treat them like enemies’ is leaving a lot out of the picture

making an enemy out of a key ally and in particular one of the few middle eastern allies we have that are culturally similar to us has long term consequences

you want to sabotage our countries defence (f35’s are the best fighter jet in the world) and key alliance with the US when it’s already fragile, this will have long term effects well after trump is dead, this war is over and the world has moved on

like how the west was outraged at apartheid in south africa but now it’s a shithole with rampant crime, poverty and has like 5 hours of electricity a day no one cares

afaik we have no relationship with russia, we did no major trade with them, they have nothing we need

and again, you’re willing to go all in, all out, from Australia, a million miles away while the trillion dollar petrostates and poorer states around them have a similar stance to us at best, at worst they want nothing to do with them

Arab states and the Palestinians: an uneasy relationship

Arab states formally support the Palestinian cause but security, regional and sectarian tensions have strained their ties with the Palestinians scattered across the Middle East, leading to political and military crises.

I draw a hard line at genocide. There is no excuse for trading with genociders. None. Never. No nuance. Anyone who disagrees with that is a fucking disgusting piece of shit who accepts genocide. End of story.

I duno what to say, prepare to live a very disappointed life? Would you stop trading with China because of an alleged genocide?

According to a March 2021 Newlines Institute report that was written by over 50 global China, genocide, and international law experts,[141][333][142] the Chinese government breached every article in the Genocide Convention

                    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persecution_of_Uyghurs_in_China#Genocide

                    Ouch

in this New Australia we’d be very poor but we’d have a very high horse to sit on I guess?

          Yes.

It would be an honour to be the first country to do so, and I hope we do it regardless of what our government demands. Just like we did when Robert Menzies told us to keep sending pig iron to Imperial Japan in 1938.

We’re not risking Australia’s future defence because of a war between two middle eastern countries

They’re risking Australia’s internal security by participating a genocide in our name. They’re risking Australia’s external defence by pretending the US is an ally and not a hostile competing imperial power. Look at how the US is treating Ukraine just like all its other proxy cannon fodder. Look how the US is treating close 5EYES partners like Canada. Look at how the US is treating us. That’s the future they’re choosing. And if that leaves us a tad more exposed to Indonesia or New Zealand invading us then it still beats the position we’re in now.

As for the laughable “contract” rhetoric, all I have to say is AUKUS subs.

Funnily enough, a certain other place did have private security who they tried to call on demonstrators. The security team were Lebanese and clearly didn’t try once they saw the protesters lol
