Isn’t it telling that only the biggest companies, Epic Games, can actually afford to fight Apple and Google in court over this, the rest of us who also hate it just have to suck it up or hope a champion fights for us.

Some may say that these companies wield more power than the whole of Australia as a nation.

It will be very interesting to see what the response from the companies is and how this unfolds.

I wonder if they can say you can’t download App Store as they no longer offer App Store in Australia. But you could use the US app store.

Or maybe they could just stop offering App stores in Oz, which would render all our phones useless. Bonus points if they say it is because of the stupid social media age verification.

I am sure the idea of disabling the app stores in Australia has been discussed! I don’t think they’ll want to pull out of the Australian market, but I do expect some kind of childish backlash.

I doubt they would risk pulling out of the market even if they threaten to! A userbase of potentially 20m people would give any startup phone/ phone OS company a real edge in the market I’d think. They’ll huff and puff but will always comply because the risk is greater than putting up with changes.
