Been playing again and already twice today I had some coop pains that made me wish the PC version had voice chat (the PlayStation version does, but not PC for some damn reason).
First, I am like level 138 or something and I got summoned to Murkwater Cave. Like… Bruh. Even if it’s NG+7, you should be able to spank Patches easy at this level.
The second was someone summoning outside Fia’s location at Deeproot Depths but before they had progressed her quest to fight the dragon. I could only convey what needed to be done by pointing at Fia, then the grace, and severing out. I wish I could have actually just told them they need to exhaust her dialogue and rest and/or quit, restart, exhaust D’s dialogue, rest and/or quit again and restart then summon us for the boss.
I’m also now wondering if Nightreign has some kind of communication system beyond just gestures. 🤔
As far as I understand, Nightreign suffers from the same lack of communication.
I’m really happy that Nightreign doesn’t have voice chat. Can’t imagine much worse than being screamed at by randos whenever anything goes wrong.
The pinging is good enough for 95% of cases (as long as you’re not unlucky to have people who ignore it, but that’s rare). The remaining 5% can probably be solved by improved pinging.
They would have had to program the voice chat themselves just for PC. Thats probably why it doesnt have it. I’m sure PlayStation has something already there to use that they took advantage of. But I wouldnt really know. I just don’t play with randos
They had vc in previous games. So it’s not like they don’t have the technical know how. Perhaps not enough time… 🤷♂️
I have been playing since Dark Souls and I have never used a voice chat in game. So Idk. Seems kinda necessary for matching with players and coordinating. Of course that didnt matter in DS/ER as much.
Voice chat with your friends? Or with randoms?
Randos. If they were friends, we could just use Steam’s (shitty) VoIP service or any other 3rd party tool. But the way the game works with Steam services, it’s not always possible to even find the Steam profile of a player you played with. I am like 75℅ sure that’s a steam issue, though, and not an issue with the games (because it also broke in previous games that worked perfectly fine previously).
I’ve never done pvp or coop so I completly missed that the game has voice chat on PS ! As far as I know nightreign only has the ping system, sadly I haven’t played so can’t confirm. :( my time will come…
I only know because I liked the game so much, I got it on PS5 too so I could 100℅ it again. 🤣
