  • I haven’t, though think you’re considering the right factors re: compatibility between components. The only other thing would be the usual on buying anything used, i.e. condition, who you’ve bought it from etc but I assume that was all thought through at the time. Still an important variable though.

I’ve been looking for a good deal on a Technics 1200/1210 but might just plump for the 1500C new, as it’s dropped a bit recently

  • If you’re happy hunting down a used 5800X3D or 5700X3D when you do want to upgrade, I’d say that makes sense to a degree. Just that they’re both end of life so finding one might be tricky when the time comes.

I’d almost suggest going straight for one of those CPUs now even if that will require more time to save up then just upgrade your GPU in a few years. That’ll make a much bigger difference even in games that benefit most from the v cache

  • I agree with your comment that this episode was a tonal mess, yet for all that still enjoyed it. Life isn’t neatly packaged into times of only deadly seriousness, lighthearted nonsense and character growth, sometimes they all happen at the same time.

    hidden or nsfw stuff

There seemed to be three areas of focus: Kirk coming to terms with having to make difficult decisions as well as to take up the mantle of command with the Enterprise crew who beamed aboard, Pike and La’an trying to remove the thingie draining power from the ship and No 1, Pelia, Ortegas etc trying to patch ship functions back together.

In that sense, each of them clearly had a distinct tone to me

You clearly saw the seeds of the lead up to TOS in the Farragut storyline, which was ultimately it’s purpose.

Off-topic but holy hell are spoilers so difficult to use on Lemmy

  • A bit beyond your budget (this came to £487/€565) but maybe something like:

    • Turntable - Audio Technica LP60XBT: supports Bluetooth, so will be able to connect to your BT headphones as well possibly(?) to the active speakers, saving on more cabling. Despite the cheap price, this is a solid turntable in its own right and includes a phono stage and serviceable cartridge.

    • CD Player - Tangent CD II: honestly not that familiar with Tangent but seems to have good reviews, is compact and one of the cheapest out there. Connect to active speakers via SPDIF out or line out

    • Active Speakers - Edifier R1280DB: being active speakers, you’ll save on needing an amplifier and can connect the CD player and turntable (assuming you can’t connect the two via BT) directly. You can also connect your phone or laptop to these speakers via BT. Not the smallest but fairly compact.

This is over your budget but it’s tough to get under unless you go second hand or score an excellent deal
