Early on my cat would play fetch with a ball, but nowadays it is only with springs. He’ll bring one to me maybe once a week and want me to throw it down the stairs.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Windows 11 could actually become the same kind of mistake Sony made with the PS3English
21·2 months agoSwitched my home PC to Linux (Manjaro) over a year ago and had little issue getting it to run what I want. Steam works great these days. Wine has come a long way but I don’t end up using it… though might try to run Foobar now that I think of it.
I hear the fleet management argument though. I got a MacBook at work because I couldn’t stand windows 11 and it’s claim on all virtualization (have to disable security features to get VMs access to hardware virtualization), and I don’t envy our IT department having to deal with Jamf.

1·2 months agoNo mention of losses from this kind of power transfer, or costs of maintaining roadways with this technology. Isn’t this just solar roads again without the solar?

Headline calling it a “sensor” made me think it was a powered device…

2·6 months agoIf there is a scooter claiming all that, under $1000, you would probably be at greater risk of dying while riding it vs scooters from companies you could sue for liability and will state their specs appropriately.

14·6 months agoWTF, i thought microbeads were banned years ago. I haven’t seen a product with them in a long time… but then I just buy the same products all the time and haven’t scanned the field.

7·9 months agoI’ve learned that OG Luddites were not against new technology, they were against technology that disproportionately enriches the owner class. The common usage today was meant to discredit the Luddites as being against technological progress. I’ve been in tech most of my career, and I kind of want to take back the term.
Probably more jobs, and certainly less health compromising jobs, in solar and wind. I think Luddites would not support investing in coal, versus renewables.
Maybe “regressive” is a more fitting term for the MAGA death cult?

25·11 months agoFor real. I would love to believe this is true, but even if it is wouldn’t ICE just roll up on the event and start cuffing attendees?
In case you missed it from a few years ago. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Did_That!

I missed all of this, but mostly caught up now. Hopefully Feamework starts making some better decisions on who they align with.
