Low bar, but that’s how far our options have sunk.

riquisimo@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Hardware@lemmy.world•Expect HDD, SSD shortages as AI rewrites the rules of storage hierarchy — multiple companies announce price hikes, tooEnglish5·27 days agoIf you’re unfamiliar with the term, “nearline” refers to storage that is not quite online, yet also not quite offline. It’s “warm” data, information that needs to be available for ready access, but doesn’t have to be as quick or responsive as the SSDs that serve as primary online storage for essentially all systems now. Because it isn’t constantly being accessed, hard drives can fill this role in an economical fashion.
Aww. I hope someone isn’t antagonizing the poor kitten for a photo op. :(
riquisimo@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Steam Deck@sopuli.xyz•[Discussion] What games are you playing on your deck? - September 20252·1 month agoCherried all of those, except Porgy. Haven’t even dusted it off yet. I think that’ll be my next.
Bug Hunter is one of my favs. You may like Overbold next. :)
I didn’t say it was cheap, lol. I said it’s where you can buy music.
riquisimo@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Steam Deck@sopuli.xyz•[Discussion] What games are you playing on your deck? - September 20255·1 month agoLove UFO 50! On a mission to cherry it all. I’m happily halfway there. There are a few games that aren’t as successful at getting the hooks in though. What are your favorites and least favorites so far?
Deezer, Qobuz, and Bandcamp. Between those three you should have everything.

Maybe they’re saving the conclusions to all their trilogies for the steam deck 3.
…too bad we’ll never get it though.
Is that… me?
Man, that is a suspicious thumbnail.
Not like that.
“fully clothed” Yeah in Greek speedos.
Hey! I’ve seen you before! You’re the unhinged jackass noticer!
…i looked in your comment history for too long to figure out why though. https://lemmy.world/comment/18001123
riquisimo@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•Range anxiety is overblown. Electric vehicle owners only use 13 percent of their battery capacity a day, on average.4·2 months agoRight, but you never want to be dependent on a stop.
We have an older 2017 leaf. You can highway about an hour and a half/two hours tops. If you get to that charge station and they only have 1chademo plug and it’s out of order you’re stuck using the slower “charge the car in 4-5 hours” plug.
For long trips we top up once we get to 40 percent or so, that way we can potentially skip a stop if need be.
Unfortunately I already left Pop! for Fedora when I updated my GPU. I needed something with an updated kernel anyways and Fedora played nice with it out of the box.
But man, I still am surprised when I open up software and it just… loads with no issue.
What a mental image that is.
