There is a massive amount of people in Alberta who hate this bitch. She only barely won the last election and she would probably loose if the election were today. She is only doing this shit because she knows she has a few years before the next vote

qwestjest78@lemmy.catoPersonal Finance@lemmy.ml•PSA, you will actually pay $1M for your $500k house at today's ratesEnglish72·1 month agoCompared to renting, you pay substantially more when you own. Maintenance, repairs, insurance, property taxes, full utilities. Mortgage is just the base you pay.
At the end of the day, sure you own the house, but all those extra expenses don’t go away. Lately I have been seeing retired home owners selling because they can’t afford all the upkeep so they end up moving into a smaller unit.
Decades ago buying was a no brainer, but do you really think houses will continue to appreciate at this rate? Will a 2 bedroom run down bungalow really be worth 2 or 3 million in 10 years? At least with renting you can invest that money you save from not buying and get a guaranteed return.
For the record, I’m not saying not to buy, but you should not just buy because you think it is a good financial decision. It might not end up being the case depending on where you live

If this was the reason they broke it off, then they did you a favour. A worthwhile relationship wouldn’t end over something so small. Better to move onto more mature partners

Look at how many bosses/CEOs bill their daily travel expenses to the company

I told them they could live with me if they are independent, but if they need professional care, then we would move them where they need to be for that, like a retirement home.
My parents were both offended by this clearly, but I saw what happened when my parents tried to be the caregiver to my grandfather when he got very old and it nearly tore our family apart basically having to have shifts to go and take care of him all so he could sit in a chair in his house. It sacraficed years of our lives and I delayed going to college for several years because of it. Family members are not professional caregivers and trying to be results in bad care and delays the inevitable of needing to go to a home.
Despite explaining all of this to them and them knowing how hard it was taking care of an elderly parent, they still feel like I have to do it. I asked them, “Did you only have kids to make sure someone will look after you when you are old,” and they get all flustered by that and never give a straight answer.
They have given up on me now and are currently guilting my siblings to look after them some day.

qwestjest78@lemmy.cato Stop Drinking@lemmy.world•Looking to get sober for real this timeEnglish3·3 months agoFor me I noticed that when it’s hot and I think about a ice cold beer, I am really craving something that is ice cold and refreshing. So when I have that craving, I try to find a glass of ice water or a soda. Typically I have that and the craving is satisfied.
You mentioned the outdoor bars. I dont know if that entails you feeling the social pressure to drink, but that is typically what I feel when I go to the bar. For me if I get a coke with ice, then people think I am having a coke with rum and dont question me. Even if they did I have gotten more comfortable being able to simply say that I dont drink and most people dont inquire further.
Good luck with your recovery journey. I have given up drinking also for the health benefits and I don’t regret it
