  • On linux, you can do what you wish. You can use a desktop environment with a GUI software center that pops up a notification that prompts you to install updates. Or update by opening the software center and selecting the ones you want. Or use the terminal commands. Or write an alias so you can type “update” and have it execute all your commands in the right order. Or script it to run silently in the background on an automated schedule.

And you can use your computer during updates, there’s no mandatory update during shutdown/boot.

  • Oh, I misunderstood. My apologies.

Hepatitis B takes 60-90 days to incubate. Because of the slow incubation, the vaccine works best if started within 24 hours of exposure, and can still work if administered up to 7 days after exposure. Newborns are typically exposed during birth, not while growing in the womb.

Compare to, say, the COVID-19, where the incubation is 2-14 days. The vaccine takes about 10-14 days to set in, so if you take it post-exposure in most cases you’ll be done with the actual infection before the vaccine even starts working.

  • I love ghost, it’s a nice slow-rolling heat that builds in intensity and stays with you for a while. Unlike habanero, which hits you hard and fast, ghost sneaks up on you, so you can pace yourself to your tolerance even though the heat is very high.

But I’m also a spice head, so take that with a grain of salt. My kiddo will eat jalapeño and occasionally Serrano level but she doesn’t eat like Mom and I.

  • Stablecoins are not better, they’re different.

If you’re on a trading platform, you have a cash account. You use the cash account to buy stocks, options, etc. When you sell these, they credit your cash account. You only actually get the money if you cash out your account, which most people who are actively trading don’t because it takes time to transfer out.

Stablecoins are like cash accounts for crypto. You can use them to buy and sell coins like Bitcoin or Ethereum. Then you can eventually cash them out, which takes more time.

  • Debian stable is for you then. If you’re just looking to SSH, you can install it without a desktop environment. If you want a GUI, you can install XFCE (light) or LXQT (very light).

You can go minimal with Debian to keep it fast, and its release cadence is do an update every 2 years and just do security updates in the interim. So if you go 6 months without updating, you’ll just get a handful of security patches without any system-breaking. If you plan on leaving it on for days at a time, you can also use the unattended-upgrade package to auto update.
