hitmyspot@aussie.zoneto Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•In Singapore, owning even a junk car is now considered a luxuryEnglish371·4 days agoBut, there’s good public transport that’s cheap and cheap abundant taxis too. The whole country is the size of a small city.
Do you find the show stressful or just not engaged with the plot and characters, despite liking Malek?
It is a bit discombobulating but it’s worth it. It’s interesting and surreal and hyper real all at once.
Oh, nice likeness btw.
Yes, looks like first rollout was end of 99. So technically correct, which is the best kind.
However, it was not groundbreaking and the point is that someone in the 90s would not be shocked by internet connected devices. If I recall, some sites also allowed you to blog online by sms. I’m fuzzy on the details and the timeline on that though.
They did, but it was very slow. Picture messaging was also a thing, but may have been early 2000s. There wasn’t much to browse on the mobile web…basic weather and news etc. Usually it was the network operator but there were offerings from yahoo and similar.
So, the internet took off. This lady is putting a picture of her food on her personal website. There is a respiratory disease pandemic so people are wearing masks for public health safety measures.
Lol, it’s not that crazy. The 90s has both internet and masks.

However, more democrats voted for Harris than every other winning president before 2020. 2020 just had an outsized number of votes.
Yes, it’s getting better, but it’s pretty poor. It’s not due to an aversion to spicy food though. It’s due to a lack of knowledge of how to make good Mexican food. There are not a lot of Mexican immigrants, especially compared to China, Thailand, Vietnam etc. Indian food is also surprisingly poor here, given the large Indian population, but many are recent migrants, so it is improving.
hitmyspot@aussie.zoneto United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•95 House Dems, Including Trans Rep McBride, Vote To "Honor The Legacy" Of Charlie Kirk15·14 days agoDemocrats lost because more people voted trump. I agree that if more democrats went out to vote for Harris, trump would have lost, but equally, trump would have lost if more republicans stayed home. That’s the point about political ads and the use of wedge issues, like Charlie Kirk.
hitmyspot@aussie.zoneto United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•95 House Dems, Including Trans Rep McBride, Vote To "Honor The Legacy" Of Charlie Kirk17·15 days agoWhich is what the ads are for.
That’s also a false narrative as more people voted for trump when he lost than most other presidents who won.
Political ads work. Which is unfortunate, but true. So the Dems are voting tactically, to not have a cudgel to be used against them. I think they’d be better off fighting that cudgel with talk of free speech instead but it still makes sense, even if I disagree.
hitmyspot@aussie.zoneto United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•95 House Dems, Including Trans Rep McBride, Vote To "Honor The Legacy" Of Charlie Kirk110·15 days agoIf the ads don’t work and these hypothetical voters were going to vote one way anyway, why have them?
There is a base of voters on each side that don’t change their votes. The middle that does change their votes is who the ads are for.

Yes, but it’s spicier than a mild salsa from old El Paso.
I’d be quite surprised. The USA and Aus have quite a bit of spicy influence. India for UK, Thai for aus…sure many people don’t like spicy food but most do.
I loved in UK for a bit and remember being quite surprised that fàst food, like burger king, had proper spicy food.
I think it’s less of a problem that they run at full tilt, more a problem that their value decreases significantly with age. In 4 or 5 years, they are out of date and not worth much. So there is a constant need to reinvest in newer faster gpus.
So, yes, if they collapse, then they can sell them but not for much. Even without a price collapse they are worth a good deal less. With a price collapse they will be worth much much less. Possibly close to worthless if the market is flooded.
