  • I generally overshoot when it comes to the hardware specs, if I can. That way you’re prepared in advance if you end up having the option to upgrade your Internet connection.

Otherwise, you may find yourself locked in to the slower plan due to the cost of upgrading your hardware.

But, sometimes you have to choose realistic over optimal, of course. So in other words, I do not think I know what’s best for you! Just offering a perspective that has worked for me, in case it helps you in some way as you evaluate the choice that’s best for you.

  • Faster? Sure. Significantly? No. Not at the unfathomably large scale we’re talking about. When adopted to these ridiculously huge distances, the effect the increase in speed modern technology might allow will quickly diminish.

Furthermore, the nearest black hole is a hell of a lot farther away than the Voyager craft have so far made it to. Just ridiculously farther.

I’m pretty confident this is not realistic at all until we managed to make some significance leaps forward in the relevant technology.

  • No. Sorry, but the people, events, and even societal structures relevant to the Bible are all long dead. Therefore, “relevant” is factually incorrect.

Now, I do fully agree that there are plenty of stories in that book that highlight good morals, and healthy ways to think about yourself, the world around you, and you fit in. Unfortunately, there’s also plenty of regressive authoritarian propaganda that does not have any beneficial message to it, not to mention bizarre and disturbing filler.

That said, to decide the entire collection inherently somehow has more importance than other books is not helpful, untrue, and puts you on a frame of mind where it becomes way harder to actually learn from the morals of the story so to speak.

For better or worse, it is, after all, just a book.

  • The analogy makes a lot of sense to me. Once you have an “easy button”, it’s hard to not use it. It’s sort of like when you’re at work and see the “quick workaround” effectively become the standard process.

Or when you’re diving somewhere, and drivers thinking there’s an “easy button” gets people killed.

The point, I think, is that society seems to encourage “what can I get away with” while discouraging any consideration of “what should I do”. Which, well, seems pretty ass-backwards don’t you think?

Then again, we’ve never truly removed from power the progeny of those that decided beating the shit out of someone else was preferable to doing their fair share of the labor. “But what if someone tries to kick your ass? Then you’ll be glad I’m here.”

Uhh, like fucking hell I will. That kind of sociopathic fuckery has always been, and will always be, nothing but a drain on the collective effort of any society.

Tldr: I totally agree with you

Oh, and as an aside, part of me kinda hates that Re-Logic added “Journey Mode” to Terraria; I haven’t put any significant time into even one classic mode playthrough since.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • I’ll never understand the whole assigning blame routine. Blame isn’t a solution. It doesn’t fix a damn thing to know whose fault it is. If you want to solve the problem, figuring out who to blame is nothing but a waste of time and energy.

That said, you’re wrong. There’s plenty of people and organizations to blame, from Rupert Murdock to the Heritage Foundation and beyond. Did refusing to vote for Harris help? Of course not. But this didn’t fucking start with “enlightened liberals” (which is a complete useless term, btw; why the fuck is everyone got such a hard-on for calling people liberals, anyway?).

Besides, all your doing here is playing into the divisive rhetoric. Our only chance is solidarity amongst the working class, and this bullshit ain’t helping. Well, no, I guess if I’m going to be honest here it does help the sociopathic oligarchs maintain control. So congratulations - you’re fighting for the wrong fucking side.
