They see children as their property. Many of them still think that way even into the child’s adult life.

Got the book! The title of this poem is “Something You Could Swallow”

So far, the book is wonderful. I’m digesting it slowly. The poems are bringing up a lot of emotion in me.

Thank you! I ended up emailing the author and asking which book this poem was in. She said it’s from her newest book, “The Wound Before the Scar” I’ve ordered it but I don’t yet know the title of the poem. I’ll report back tomorrow when it arrives.

I’m considering changing the last lines to:

so if you don’t like
the reflection staring back
drop Me on the street
I’ll make Someone Else’s day
