If they just shoved ChatGPT or some other big LLM into it, probably yeah. For actual good results you’d need to make your own LLM trained specifically to do dialog and not much else. Even then it’d be SLOW AS HELL even with powerful PCs.

Thanks for this, I’ve been slowly trying to move to new services now I’m just waiting to get a new phone that can be De-Google’d

It’s know for two things: letting tech obsessed people with no skill LARP as artists (poorly, due to the lack of actual soul) and tricking old people

The only somewhat understandable thing I can think of GenAI could have a use for in games is shoving an LLM into one to get more dynamic-ish dialogue. Everything else just sounds terrible on paper and IS terrible when executed. I saw a trailer for a fully AI-generated game and it looked like the most shovelware garbage ever.

The government doing something stupid? I could’ve never guessed???

Since my Dad wasnt able to get me a Google Pixel I’m honestly considering a dumbphone at this point. Make my Samsung a glorified MP3 player.
For me its less “I have nothing to hide” and more “I am literally forced to use this because I have no other option”
Samsung because I cannot afford a Google Pixel that still supports GrapheneOS, I didn’t get the money I needed
Steam because I can’t play my games without them
Amazon cause that’s the only online store my parents will buy from 99% of the time
And Discord because all my friends are on there and I cant get them to move, plus there’s currently not a very good Discord alternative imo

Unfortunatley I don’t have the balls to delete mine, because doing so would make me lose years of emails and files and youtube videos.
I’ve never understood the appeal of AirBNBs, letting complete strangers stay at my house sounds like it’d be an absolute NIGHTMARE.

I’ve heard that there’s phones that use Linux, so I imagine once modifying Android isn’t an option focus will probably go into making that more viable.

Something you learn quick about degoogling is that there’s just some services that cannot ever match up with their product. Google Maps is one of those products.

The main issue with YouTube alternatives that makes people not want to move is they can no longer watch their favorite creators because none of them want to move from YouTube. Especially the ones whos entire JOB is making YouTube content.
I’ve been thinking about it for a while. Back when I started getting more serious about internet privacy I had the idea of switching to a de-Googled phone but when I found out that’d be expensive as hell I had a second idea to get a flip phone and spread out what I use it for across devices. My laptop for services like YouTube and streaming, MP3 player for music, a digital camera for my camera, etc. Also expensive but the individual devices are cheaper so I can more easily slowly chip away at it, first thing I’m getting is an MP3 player because I got my Dad to buy me one for Christmas.
