  • I personally think the current ones are fine as they are, though I do like your suggestion “Recommendation” instead of “RT/WT”. Maybe shorten it to “Rec” though, so it doesn’t take up so much space. “DISC” covers most use cases pretty well. By specifying it to “Episode”/“Chapter”, you exclude things like films, one-shots and specials. I suppose you could fine-grain it more, but I don’t really see the point tbh, unless we know it’s confusing people.

  • This season I watched:

    • Dr. Stone: ended up being disappointed in this. It built further on an already shaky foundation and didn’t really deliver on it. Felt more like filler in the end.
    • Dandadan: up until the Evil Eye arc it was great, but the episodes after were kinda boring and introduced a character I really didn’t like. Still fun though.
    • Silent Witch: this was a fun one. Nothing special, but I liked it a lot.
    • Sakamoto Days: same as last season. Pretty fun, though I’m not so much into the supernatural aspects, which I feel got upped this season.
    • Gachiakuta: like it a lot, particularly the setting. Banger OP.
    • With You And The Rain: delightfully relaxing. Loved every episode. Amazing OP.
    • My Dress-Up Darling: good stuff, just like last season.
    • Betrothed to my Sister’s Ex: nice comfort watch. Was a bit rushed near the end though.
    • Clevatess: good fantasy anime. It’s building an interesting world that I’d like to see more of. It’s more than just a default fantasy rpg setting. Banger OP

  • I didn’t like this ep. This whole season felt like filler. There’s hardly been any progression. We’re at pretty much the same spot as before this season, just with some more petrified people. The non-chalance of just reviving Xeno, who didn’t mind all of them being ruthlessly murdered because reasons, is wild to me. Xeno et all are irredeemable.

The whole “chased by soulless soldiers that are aching to kill bunch of teens” thing was completely unnecessary and over the top. It didn’t really add much to the story as a whole and the whole vibe of it felt really out of place.

I also disliked that part because the basis for it was so shaky already. My issue with the previous season was already the completely unjustified animosity towards Senku and co. Not in a “I dont like the justification” way, but in a “this is barely explained at all” way. Xeno and co attacked immediately in that season because… reasons and now that Senku and co have kidnapped Xeno as self-defense Stanley wants to kill them even more and gives no space for negotiation because I guess he’s just that much of a psycho. That’s the basis in Science Future p1 and that’s still the basis for the chase of p2, even though that’s not the goal of p2.

While watching p2, I just accepted that the basis for it was shaky, and took it for what it was. It was decent because of that, but this episode made me reconsider the whole thing again.

  • No one does 3D graphics better in anime than Ufotable and KyoAni to an extent. If you want to find better 3D animation, you have to go west and look for the likes of Disney/Pixar.

I mostly agree, but I think studio Orange is missing from that list. They’re the only studio that has made great-looking full 3D anime.

Which brings me to one of my favourites visually: Land of the Lustrous. Gorgeous 3D animation and great action scenes. The reflective “hair” of the characters is only possible due to the 3D.

    Other favourites are:

    • Violet Evergarden and Liz and the Blue Bird: KyoAni at their absolute best.
    • Monogatari Series: it’s not up there for animation (though it’s not bad at all by any means), but it is for its style.
    • Fate/Stay Night Heaven’s Feel: absolutely gorgeous and crisp animation. Ufotable at their best (I haven’t seen Demon Slayer past 9 eps in of S1, so can’t comment on that).
    • Garden of Words: the atmospherics and the rain are just gorgeous
