What about logging policies? Seems like that would be an important category to visit - which providers store logs or don’t etc. I’ve heard of some that use RAM-only logging that allegedly never gets stored on disk.

RaoulDook@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•how did you make the switch from reddit to lemmy.. i'm trying to myself but struggling to nglEnglish1·3 days agoSame here, as I only use open-source clients on the phone. It’s been obvious for many years that the apps made by the social media companies are spyware, so I’ve stayed away from them.
But also I use the web mostly, and “switching” on the web just means closing one tab and opening another to visit a different URL. It’s sad that many folks who use the Internet don’t understand how or try to avoid the hellscape of app lock-in. The web is here for our open usage just as it has been for decades.
RaoulDook@lemmy.worldto Open Source@lemmy.ml•Free Software Foundation Turns 40, Unveils LibrePhoneEnglish1·3 days agoNah many people don’t live in their cars. I have 2 cars and never use Android Auto even when I could. I’m usually busy with driving instead of fooling with phone bullshit when I’m in the car anyway.
What yer sposed to do is prune whole limbs at their bases (or start of fork if trimming a forked limb), to trim these back when needed. Amputating the limbs in the middle causes lots of little sprout limbs to come out of the stump, and makes it look shitty.

RaoulDook@lemmy.worldto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Peter Thiel: strict AI regulation will summon the AntichristEnglish8·15 days agoOf course today we see that he is in the Epstein files, new ones released by Congress.
This guy being the puppet master behind Vance and others, makes sense how they went so stupidly hard into the Epstein cover-up.

The stupidity has never been more off the charts in my lifetime.
RaoulDook@lemmy.worldto And Finally...@feddit.uk•Oklahoma’s big “TV nudes” scandal was… a Jackie Chan movie on a Samsung streaming serviceEnglish2·19 days agoThere is a surprising amount of gratuitous nudity in “The Protector” but when I saw it on the Whatever cheap streaming app they had unfortunately blurred out all the tits and other nude lady parts. The movie features classic gangster movie staple actor Danny Aiello whose name you probably wouldn’t remember unless you looked at the credits, and he is in some of the nude lady scenes perving on them. The movie also has some impressive stunts by Jackie Chan & co, but it’s not one of his best in terms of kung fu battles because he plays a “shoot the bad guys” cop in it.

I did get lucky with about the 3rd planet I landed on being a paradise planet with plenty of salvage containers. Only had to buy landing gear to build one.

Like them redacting Trump and allies from the files? Like lying about the files and everything else over and over? Seems like a bit of a Freudian slip

I’ve noticed if I scroll to the bottom of the page and let all of the image previews load FIRST, then the full size images can be viewed. It makes browsing Lemmy as a website pretty slow overall.
Yes Jeeves, bring me the shirt of asses. I’m going out tonight.

RaoulDook@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.zip•OpenAI Says It's Scanning Users' ChatGPT Conversations and Reporting Content to the PoliceEnglish18·1 month agoIt seems like most of the big AI systems are really mass surveillance systems, or Total Information Awareness systems, which explains the fascist embrace of AI evangelism pretty conveniently. Just look at their breathless demands for unfettered access to all information in every location. They even buy data breaches from darknet marketplaces to add to their training databases (read about Flock Safety and that FYI)
RaoulDook@lemmy.worldto A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Imagine if the only thing limiting your dreams was a livable incomeEnglish5·1 month agoI see 2 morals to the story. Firstly, don’t work at BK for 27 years because they don’t give a shit about you, and you could probably make a better living at many other jobs in that time. Secondly, that rage-bait gathers attention on the internet and can possibly lead to riches if you promote your story of injustice to the public and solicit donations.
This seems logical so it could be accurate
There is no guarantee unless you could personally audit their facilities and inspect what they did with your account etc. But I would still choose one that states they have a good policy versus one that says nothing on the subject.
