Only thing I’d say is shopkeeps have a point about their footfall being affected by the lack of parking outside their shops now. Literally every other way to address that, besides nuking the site from orbit (the only way to be sure), is a better way to address that than just tearing up the bike lane.

A car park would spoil their view would it? if that’s the issue, they could block their view of the car park by parking cars along the roadside in front of it. a quick google tells me 9% of school goers vape, and about 3% smoke. That’s down from 0 vapers in the 90’s and 50% of them having had a smoke (not necessarily smokers).
