  • You might be using the AUR and don’t even know it. The Chaotic AUR repository might be enabled and i think it is enabled by default on garuda.

The chaotic aur is a bunch of pre compiled versions of apps from the AUR. It doesn’t have all the AUR packages but it has a bunch.

You can check by looking for [chaotic- aur] in your /etc/pacman.conf file.

    grep "\[chaotic-aur]" /etc/pacman.conf

If enabled pacman will handle those packages without the need for an aur helper like yay.

  • These tools look like they are in great shape for their age. The skill saw might even still have the blade that came with the set. None of the tools look really beat up like my tools get.

Like the other commenter said you can get adapters for the batteries.

None of these tools are brushless, that would be a concern of mine if the tools looked all beat up. When/if you go to buy them put a battery in them all and make sure they work. Listen for grinding noise that really should not be there.

Bring a speed square and check how square the skill saw is. First remove the battery and put the blade depth as low as it can go. The guard should be close to the handle and as much blade showing as possible. Then adjust your angle to zero. There should be a knob at the front with a rainbow shaped angle indicator. Then rest the speed square on the guard and press the other end of the triangle to the blade. It should be pretty square. They aren’t perfectly square a lot of the time from the factory at least my old set wasnt. You just don’t want a huge gap at the top or bottom. 1/16 out at max id say as long as that is acceptable to your standards, your likely not framing a house with it. On my old saw I could force it square. If it is way out the saw might have taken a big drop.

Over all this looks like a good buy imo. My old set was around 500$. You can always back out if you get a sketchy vibe from the seller.

Be safe. I get the risks. Don’t do it on my account, but if it ever feels right it might be a bonding moment. Takes a lot of mutual trust.

I knew an old man that would sit down with his horse and sometimes the horse would lay down next to him for a moment, at least that is what he said and I believe him. When I first met the horse he sat down right in the middle of the corral to show me there wasn’t anything to be afraid of and told me that story. They were great friends though and he spent a lot of time with his horse. He grew up hunting and fishing in my little valley and a horse was just a way of life for the old (greatest) generation.

First horse I ever rode in fact. He was old by the time I got to know him.

Used to feed him oats. The old man took me in and taught me how to saddle and ride.

Bager didn’t like me riding him much. Used to take him out this old mountain road a few miles, never more than a canter. Mostly just a mosey.

He’d get fed up with me and bite my ankle and i would lead him to the creek for a bit of water and sometimes I’d wash his legs a moment. Then we would walk home together. Stopping to take in the views. The sweet smell of pine and sagebrush after a summer shower.

    Bager and I

We’d get back and I’d give him a nice brushing and his favorite part of seeing me more oats.

Maybe one day if I ever have the money and land I’d get me a horse, donkey and a couple pack goats.

  • I also remember reading about the theorized micro black holes. The fraction of a millimeter in diameter to quantum scale. If we were somehow able to create a process to reliably produce holes of micro size we might be able to send a small probe into one.

I keep coming back to this whole endeavor might be pointless as not even light can escape, how would we retrieve any information? Even if we somehow were able to get some info how could we guarantee the information is in a complete state? Maybe a lazer broadcast of info till right before the event horizon if the probe was strong enough to withstand the gravitational extremes. We might just get an understanding of how close probe x could get before destruction.

I guess if we could consistently reproduce black holes we could send enough probes to retrieve enough information in parts to understand more than we do.
