I mean, depending on the price of the car, the discount could very well be worth it, regardless of how much money you already have.

LoreleiSankTheShip@lemmy.mlto TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•rickyyy!English2·28 days agoI was a kid when ENT was airing, I wasn’t able to watch it consistently, but it was my first brush with Star Trek and I remembered how hopeful the song made me feel for the future. I can admit it is corny, but I was a kid and I didn’t know much English at the time so I didn’t get the religious undertones and to this day hearing it makes me incredibly nostalgic. I long for that feeling of hopefulness now and I’m thankful I get to experience at least a little bit of it when watching that intro.

No, we are not over capacity for survival. We waste a ton of water on stuff we don’t need, like having lawns in the desert or choosing to grow almonds during droughts when people have to ration water usage at home. . Top soil is the same, we could, collectively, switch from beef and to a lesser extent pork to focus on much more efficient chicken, thus freeing a lot of land used to feed livestock.
Stop this Malthusian nonsense, we have enough resources for everyone. They are just severely mismanaged to the point of killing us all. We could live sustainably if we wanted to, we just choose not to.
No, they are. Everything that lies outside of my narrow-minded and ignorant view of how attraction should work is bad and you should be ashamed!
Fair enough, I can’t argue with that. Language shifts and evolves I suppose, but it still seems problematic to me that the people (not you specifically) change the way they speak to suit an algorithm and not the other way around.
And that’s not even mentioning the fact that many people are perfectly alright with using “unalive” and “delete” instead of “kill” or “die” but can’t bring themselves to use trans inclusive language, for example. Again, not refering to you with this, you were just the unfortunate person to receive my albeit unwanted rant.
Why say “deleting yourself”? Are we really going to censor our speech here too? There’s no advertisers to spook by saying killing or committing suicide
Yup, there’s plenty of time to have fun if you don’t have to manage lil’ ones. Not saying people who want kids shouldn’t get them, but moreso that people who don’t necessarily want them and just see it as something people have to do should consider a childless lifestyle. It’s better for everyone that way.

Can someone explain to me in layman’s terms why this is the most efficient way?
That is, if they stay accessible and affordable for everyone. Would be lovely
Working in a zoo must be very fun. Probably tough as hell, but very fun
Depends on the part of the world you live in. I’m that age and coworkers (!) constantly joke about having to find me a wife and find it a bit odd that I’m not even in a long-time relationship yet.
I had this colleague a few years back who was 28-29 at the time, and people were bad-mouthing him because he wasn’t married, saying that something must be wrong with him. Societal pressure is very strong here.
You wouldn’t believe this is happening in the EU, right?

That’s very interesting to me (I am a bit mathematically illiterate when it comes to probability). Wouldn’t it still have a lower chance of being a 1 if you said you want your second roll to be the one that counts beforehand? Or would different permutations screw with the odds, say rolling a 12 then a 1, rolling a 15 and a 1, etc, counting towards unfavourable possibilities and bringing it back to 1/20?
