, lol, good riddance.
Kiwi here, originally European so I get content in two languages and from people with some interests in similar. Good percentage of local and international stuff generally keeps me happy. (Not too concerned/glad about overall numbers - there’s no continuous growth on a finite planet)

My main question would be: does it include protection from Google itself?

… some people want that. Ie there’s a window manager, openbox, it’s thought of by many people as dead or not further maintained because it happens so rarely, but it is because it’s good as, it works and many people love it for that.
I started to answer it but to me it felt too much like ‘surveillance state’ questions…
Frustration: that we seem to punish certain people for transgressions against government rules and not others. (This government rely knows how to show off inequality).
Just because things are natural doesn’t mean you can’t apply reason. Anything that’ll end up killing ourselves, in the greater picture, is petty stupid, especially if it only provides short term comfort we easily can do without.

Come back again when you have less time.
Possibly easier achieved with a window manager than a desktop.

Enshittification by bloating with useless stuff. Not what people want but what they’re forced (or blackmailed) into - all for G glorification and money grabbing. Look at Nova (launcher): one time affordable fee and stuff to make your phone useful (handling and aesthetics) you can have an as minimalist or as fancy environment as you want. Just read they’re (Google) are going to use AI now in YouTube to give you ads when you’re most focused on something - it’s unethical imho and also shows how stupid advertisers are because I for one wouldn’t only be peeved with Google but boycott the product or/and advertiser.
Yep, I like Nova too.

Yawn, more enshittification, is that really what people want? Seriously thinking about a degoogled phone or even free of it.

I think it shouldn’t be a competition but possibly something with added value. Possibly in the form of structure, ie something that doesn’t create hundreds of same/similar questions but constantly updates the best answers closest to the existing date. (Alphabetically searchable hashtags, etc…, build it communally, ie #NoStupidQuestions , how to best build a free information platform?).

Well what to expect when a big number is just overpriced badly functioning stuff that has way better counterparts on FOSS?
Daylight robbery… Who’s still this mentally deprived to get another subscription based anything?

Hahaha, love the irony.

Yawn, smoke and mirrors when you’re unable to do something useful.

Not my experience either, but then I don’t go looking for sub par stuff when there’s plenty of good around and I choose my 3rd party apps wisely.
I pay 5x as much. Where do you get 1kwh for 10c?
