Well, I gotta admit I am kinda of a freak when it comes to switch tastes. I love it to be loud, obnoxiously loud, with a huge accutation force. I have generally bounced between Box Jades/Navys and Kaliah Burnt Oranges, I really want my typing to be a sensual experience, feeling and hearing each keystroke. Since I do not do much high APM gaming, the extra force required never feels like it gets in the way; most others tell me they emphatically do not feel the same. So this is very much a bit of unusual take, and I do not know how relevant it will be for you.

Dang, I really like the little jazz-fusion inclusions, always been a sucker for that. Honestly, I’m most reminded of a thrash equivalent to what Afterbirth brings to Brutal Death, not that I’d take the comparison too far. Love to see polish metal bands, it feels like you never get to hear much from that scene outside of Mgla/Vader.

I promise you one of the first things any time traveller from the past would notice, would be how much nicer everything smells. Not that they did not care about smelling nice, or were content being filthy all the time, we simply take for granted how incredibly easy hygiene has become.

This album just makes me laugh every time I look at it. What the fuck even is that dudes, it makes a statement I guess. The vocalist is PERFECT though, he really sells that “I’m a disgusting freak” vibe the album is trying to evoke.

Always remember that the things that you liked about Iced Earth, are not the same as what has lead you to not being able to stand them. You did not love his music BECAUSE it had subtle chud adjacent messaging, you were most likely just doing what a lot of us subconsciously do, tune it out.

Ultimately musicians are just people, and sadly even talented people can be just as wretched as the rest of us. I don’t think the metal community is actually essentially any worse in regards to noxious political opinions than any other genre, it’s just the extreme and aggressive nature of the music encourages the artists to be more open about their own opinions.

I’m guessing this sound just was not moving records in the early 2000s. Combine that with the fact that they weren’t very prolific, and you get a band that flies kinda under the radar. I managed to find a live taping of them, I gotta say, this would’ve been an incredible band to see live.

That is truly excellent, utterly bad ass punk riffage with a heavy, syrupy slather of death/thrash sensibilities and atmosphere. Reminded distinctly of, Sacrilege and Amebix.

Solid, but it really seems to be lacking anything that pulls me in. I think “mid-grade” is basically the perfect description for them.

I will NEVER get tired of Kreator (yes, even the newer stuff, sue me). They were the first thrash band I ever saw live, and if I’m being honest, the number one reason why I love metal.

I honestly do not fault you in the slightest. I’m not saying I think it’s bad, but it’s also not what I would play for someone to win them over lmao.

Never seen these dudes brought up, I think I can tell why, think I’ll just stick to Vulcano and Holocausto. That said, it does scratch that “shitty and raw” quality that I kinda crave from black metal from time to time, plus it’s always fun to look into what the more bit players of a genre were up to.

It really is one of the most originative (as opposed to simply “original”) metal records, period, no qualifiers.

I am, unsurprisingly a “fan of that kind of brutal, punish thrash,” This whole rips, I’m pretty sure I’ve heard a lot of these riffs before, but the blend they’ve put on here is still plenty unique and right up my alley.

I generally agree with all of your points here, this was a solid show, better than average but not outstanding. I’m not AS skeptical of a school arc, so long as it doesn’t become a metastatic plot tumor. Sure, it’s played out, but this show was never trying to re-invent the wheel, just put a slightly different spin on a lot of old tropes.

Tech Thrash is the perfect descriptor, this reminds me so much of Nokturnus but very modernized and with a healthy dose of Teutonic Thrash to balance the flavor.

I had read the manga a bit before, and I did NOT expect them to go this far to sell this scene. A sick send up to X Japan easily one of my favourite Japanese metal acts.

That’s inevitable, I wish sturgeon’s law didn’t apply to my favorite genres of music, but sadly it does. Still, I don’t wanna sound overly harsh on what is actually a really good album, I think it’s really just that it didn’t age particularly well.

This is a great track, but I can’t lie, the album as a whole is a little, dull? The riffs are INCREDIBLE at points but also occasionally I just sit around thinking “man, I wish this was Vio-Lence instead…”.
