It doesn’t have to be a gag per say, as the situation can occur when a skinwalker (native America folk creature) has its eyes on you and wants to eat you it will use your own family against you to have you leave the safety of your home to eat.

As another said M-discs are a great way to move data to a more permanent solution that is only writable. Alternatively making a copy of data you know won’t change very much or at all and have those files copied to a solid state drive. Those will last a lot longer on a shelf than hdd drives with discs that spin. Preferably you’d also want to make sure your cold storage is low humidity and temp controlled. If you can’t control both lean on controlling the temp and keep it regular, mid 50’s °F would probably work.

Back in the day 20+ years ago my family decided to own a business class blade server, not a whole server, just one blade, to back up and store our family videos and photos that had been scanned. Due to the cost of the single blade even second hand my father didn’t have good opsec for backups. Lo and behold a year or so the blade failed and my father and I spent the better part of a week defragging and recovering photos. We lost gigabytes of photos and spent another week+ rescanning what was still scannable. So 20 years down the road I have my own sever in rai 5, a cold storage backup, and a cloud storage backup just in case.

OP, I’ve been trying to fiddle around with doing slots on a scroll saw for something similar to this. Any chance your dad has a pic of the parts taken apart so I can get an idea of how they did it?

R. Crumb has always been a rabble rouser and a pusher of buttons with his cartoons. Guy is basically a recluse and doesn’t like crowds, but at 82 he is up there I just hope he a few things to say before anything untoward happens.

The photoshop job in this is quite good. I did some pixel peeping (sorry). Unless you are looking for the edit you would not see it.

I’m game if they fix a lot of the bad rotoscoping that happened back then. The blob (1988) in 4K is a great example of great restoration and great care taken with the special effects elements and good rotoscoping done to fix the bad roto done back then.

If it doesn’t state size, just donate a notecard or a post-it with the text on it. It’s small unobtrusive and “technically” complies with the law. As long as it’s hung in a location that people can read it if desired then there isn’t much room for them to complain. At that size it’s also incredibly easy for people to ignore since it’s small enough that people aren’t going to be able to read it while walking by.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case, but I’ve also seen many strange things in my life and it would also not surprise me that this image was real.

Agreed, finish a work and move forward. Don’t linger on something to get to “perfection”. Strive towards that in the next painting. These are always a delight to see, a bright spot in my day when things have gone sideways.
