  • And then of course there’s the actual main event. Not exactly a risk free endeavour even today. During one of the births, my partner started soaking the bedsheets in blood when the anaesthetist nicked her spinal artery with the epidural needle. She said it felt like her lower half had been crushed under a falling building. She was not right after that. Also all of them were over 4.3kg(9.5lbs). I’m really thankful I didn’t have to do that

  • The maps wrong. In northern Norway (marked in lavender) the terms Bibliotek and Girjerádju are both used depending on whether you’re speaking Norwegian or one of the Sami languages. Despite being indigenous to the region Sami is spoken by a minority and the map should be striped red and lavender. Or if you’re going by indigenous languages then you need to extend the lavender portion down through northern Sweden to Luleå and in Norway down to Trondheim.

  • As a neuroscience graduate, I can tell you that the brain takes some time to rewire according to the anatomical changes. Broadly speaking it happens by two mechanisms long term potentiation (LTP) and long term depression (LTD) which cause synapses to strengthen/weaken respectively. LTP is simply if a synapse is used it gets stronger. No problem there, because most of the synapses you need are already strong. LTD is more tricky because you need activation that is weak in comparison to useful activation over time. So you need to drown out those connections over time.

If I might be so crude, you could try touching yourself in front of the mirror. Neural impulses from your eyes and hands will likely speed up the process, and help psychologically.
