Lawnchair is alright but it is missing a bunch of features compared to Nova.
Armand1@lemmy.worldto Open Source@lemmy.ml•Kevin Barry, the founder and original developer of Nova Launcher has stopped working on Nova Launcher and the open sourcing efforts.151·29 days agoI think Lawnchair is the closest visual / UX replacement to Nova that I’ve found, but it is missing many features compared to Nova 🙁.
Also, I’m starting to learn Private Space is a pain, as amongst other shortcomings it forces you to use a logged-in Play Store to install apps (“private”, my ass!). You can install apks via ADB, but who can be bothered to do that.
Under the hood, it looks like Private Space uses another hidden user, so I think I’ll just make another user logged into nothing and switch to it occasionally instead of using private space.

Armand1@lemmy.worldto Open Source@lemmy.ml•Kevin Barry, the founder and original developer of Nova Launcher has stopped working on Nova Launcher and the open sourcing efforts.73·29 days agoI had noticed that Nova had been falling behind for the last couple of years, but I didn’t know why. I’ve been using it for over 10 years.
It sounds like a case of “buy it, kill it” which is pretty sad. If it had been open sourced we might have been able to improve it and keep it alive.

It’s a rebrand of the UKIP party (United Kingdom Independence Party) that were the chief people behind the disaster that was Brexit, which Farage was the leader of at the time.

I first thought this was talking about the UK government, as I wouldn’t put it past them to try and push something like this through. I’m both sad and relieved it’s our Australian cousins going through it instead.

But so much more is happening: conference news, a job opening, extension development12·1 month agoI wonder if the burst in activity is from all the companies and government entities in Europe wanting to distance themselves from Microsoft and the US, switching to LibreOffice and improving its funding.

I remember a story a while back about an energy company suing to get a church to take down their solar panels because they were selling their power cheap to residents.
Sadly energy company won.

Yeah unfortunately one vote every 4 or 5 years is not enough granularity to weigh in on specific issues. Also, politicians lie about what they will do all the time.
Showing that a large amount of people are against an action, whether by petition or protest, is one of the tools we do have.
This particular piece of legislation has been in the works for two administrations of two different parties. We’re kind of sick of both of them so I think many people will likely vote for a 3rd party the next time around. Possibly the more progressive splinter group of our 'left" party.
I’d rather have everyone from both parties exposed so they can finally do a pedo cleanse.
