Voyager@lemmy.world•[Megathread] Mobile app developers planning to support Piefed, Will Voyager follow?English
29·5 months agoPieFed is a lot like lemmy, but built in Python with a few key features that make a big difference, most notably
- De-duplication of Posts Across Communities
- Unified Comment View
- Merges comment threads from different communities for the same link. You can see all discussions in one place, no matter where the link was posted.
Also the onboarding is a use UX improvement, and therefore I think it will gain more traction than Lemmy in the long run.
It federates with lemmy instances, so you can see all the same content.

Voyager@lemmy.world•[Megathread] Mobile app developers planning to support Piefed, Will Voyager follow?English
21·5 months agoYea same, PieFed has so many features that Lemmy simply doesn’t. I prefer it so much that I just use it in the browser on mobile, till a good mobile app is available.
This is either a UX or User issue.
Probably both, Lemmy UX is quite bad, but understanding sub rules can also be a pain, it’s also true for Reddit

But as long as the demand is there parties will shift to align with the voters.

Europe@feddit.org•Protesters in cities across Germany demand ban on far-right AfDEnglish
6·5 months agoTheir supporters would still be there, that’s what we need to solve.
When Pablo Escobar’s cartel got taken down and he was killed, new better organised cartels popped up to take it’s place.
We need to fix Demand, not Supply
If the demand grows to over about 50% of the population there would be nothing to stop them.
I’m keen to see this grow.
A feature I’d really like to see is to allow people to use their own email domains, else they are somewhat vendor locked

Bicycling@lemmy.world•Bike Helmets: Stupid Hat or Essential Protection?English
41·5 months agoIt depends on your city.
In the Netherlands you’d probably be laughed at for wearing a helmet.
The bicycle infrastructure makes it so safe here, kids cycle alone to school across busy roads from the age of like 7
I recommend watching the YT channel Not-Just-Bikes it’s fascinating and I wish more counties were built like the Netherlands

Europe@feddit.org•Protesters in cities across Germany demand ban on far-right AfDEnglish
21·5 months agoSomething being a crime doesn’t stop a movement, it could fuel it.
IMO we shouldn’t beat the Afd etc. By making it illegal to be far right, we should beat them by understanding why people support them and by having meaningful conversations with those people and addressing their issues

Europe@feddit.org•Protesters in cities across Germany demand ban on far-right AfDEnglish
6·5 months agoThis is important.
Else a Afd2.0 would pop up over night, with many of their supporters angered.
I hope to see people like Lewis Rossmann erc. Start posting there
