I don’t think it’s obvious that just because it’s from that time period, it’s easy to make.
The channel How to make everything is a good counterpoint to that assumption, as even making something as simple as clear glass is actually extremely difficult without modern equipment (he’s been trying unsuccessfully for years).
Birch bark canoes or Medieval plate armor, despite being created with limited technology, require extreme skill.
Medieval shoes, in comparison, may be ‘surprisingly’ easy, if one assumes it takes a similar amount of skill compared to other handicrafts of that period.
