I’d buy into that vision if there is a proper local area network or offline mode. Arrowhead’s forever game promise is as good as Microsoft’s “Windows 10 is the last Windows OS”.
That comment was taken out of context, sadly, and they quickly clarified it. They never meant that Windows 10 would be the last operating system. They meant something like giving free upgrades if memory serves, but I would take that with a grain of salt because I don’t want to make more misinformation.
“No more paying for your operating system, free upgrades for all- oh wait, it seems your uhhh rolls a die processor just can’t handle a truly modern operating system so please buy a new computer whose manufacturer paid to have windows 11 pre-installed.”
Lmao so true. A certain part of me is glad, or I guess a better way to phrase it is that it’s a silver lining, but that finally got me to switch to Linux for my main desktop. If I could’ve upgraded earlier before the Recall shit I probably would’ve, then just been stuck and dealt with it.
I doubt the game will even function within 5 years without an engine swap.
No team that small and that constrained can keep up with both content development and engine maintenance
Valid, but I’d like to see them try.
Actually though…
I have literally had a 66% fps loss since launch with no settings change, not to mention stuttering now and other issues. Some of my friends still can’t reliably play on Illuminate maps without cranking everything to absolute minimum.
A much better reference would be Warframe. I haven’t played Helldivers 2 (yet) but from what I’ve seen there are some similarities, like having your base of operations in a personal ship.
I gotta ask, is Helldivers 2 playable solo? Like, not even with random other people?
Yes and no to playing solo, solo you usually play a stealthy mode so avoiding bots is easier but the games take longer, however there is no scaling difference between 1-4 players. I wish they had some kind of scaling for solo play.
I mean you’re outright incorrect about there not being difficulty scaling. The number of patrols and therefore spawns on the map is directly related to the number of players.
It’s most noticeable when players are separated, because each player will have their own patrol that spawns. If you stay together one patrol spawns for the group.
Did they change this? When I played, it’d often be 1-2 players had 95%+ of the spawns and the rest could run around uncontested.
This is how it’s worked for a while. The players running around uncontested usually avoid patrols, while the 1-2 players mowing down enemies are drawing a lot of attention and running face first into their own patrols, which begets more spawns
I play exclusively super helldive and one player who understands how to navigate patrols spawns is worth an entire team that doesn’t.
It definitely is.
That’s so sad, I was looking forward to Helldivers 2 Two
2 Hell 2 Divers
2hell4divers
Have fun with that. I’m over the gameplay loop and the constant rebalancing.
Alright guys, officermike is over it, let’s shut down the entire game. :p

I’m still loving the game. I still pick it up when I have time and my mates on, which brings me to the only downside; missing out on events. Some of them are seemingly gone in the blink of an eye. If you’re not on everyday then it’s easy to miss out being a part of cool moments.
I thought I had FOMO until I realized I didn’t really care, or need to care.
What a strange thing to “add” to the conversation. Imagine this was a spoken conversation and you said that, I’d hit you with the hard “O… K?” because it’s just just a weird sort of nihilism.
Like, why care at all, about anything, really. Corporations rule the world and even if they didn’t, nature doesn’t care about us or what we do. Anything we do leave as a “legacy” will eventually be lost to time or the heat-death of the universe so why try or care or see anything other than the encroaching darkness of death.
Alternatively, I’m going to enjoy my silly little video game and it’s a shame the story events pass me by because of the intricacies of life and obligations.
What?
They expressed that you don’t have to catch every event to enjoy the game.
You accuse them of being nihilistic and dismissive?
Wtf
I realized I didn’t really care, or need to care.
You accuse them of being nihilistic and dismissive?
I’m sorry, you’re right, they’re a ray of sunshine and I was wrong to paint them as anything but that. For that I wholeheartedly apologise. I feel ashamed of accusing them of checks notes not caring.
Not caring about limited time events, forcing you to log in?
Not the same as not caring for the game.
Kind of makes me nervous, honestly. Considering the game is on a no longer developed/supported game engine, and that over time the amount of horrific bugs, performance issues/crashes, and sheer storage size of the game already gets worse and worse and worse. It seems like they’re perpetually taking on technical debt with every new feature patch, more than they can ever fix.
If they can keep the funding rolling through current means, cool. I love any game that can sustain itself through non-shitty means and provide me more gameplay.
That being said, I don’t foresee myself giving them another dollar unless they release a legitimate DLC as the passes aren’t worth their price and I only jump in for a couple hours every year at this point. It’s fun, but they can’t seem to make content and fix bugs and the systems/balance don’t encourage experimentation with your builds.
no shit he’d like to milk a cash cow indefinitely…
