You know how an owl is a symbol of wisdom and what not.

In my language the word for an owl is the equivalent of being an idiot. (Ullu in Urdu. I’m sure some other languages use the same word and I’m sure its similarly seen as a symbol of stupidity elsewhere too)

This image feels like that contrast.

Some people here have told me the Germans have their owls categorized with the horned owls being the wise ones and the round headed ones being the silly ones. That seems to cover all bases nicely.

Some parts of the world have very negative feelings about owls though, so it can really take their attributions down some different roads.

I hear owls are kind of dumb, but I think it’s not a fair assessment. Owls have been around in some form for over 60 million years, so they seem smart enough for whatever business they have to accomplish!

Who can say humans will make it that long, given our handling of many things?

Well if we go out, we’re taking all lifeforms with us lmao.

Owls do have smth special about them. Owls seems to be very commonly used for symbolism wherever they exist.

I’m sure we all have many theories for that. I certainly do.

I dunno, that asteroid didn’t take out everything along with the dinos, so someone’s probably got a chance once we mess up too many times. A lot of biological niches will open rather quickly.

I imagine owls have given humans and proto-humans countless jump scares through the ages. We’ve got owl based cryptids, since some sound like women or babies calling for help in the woods or marshes, leading people to get lost or never return. They can appear silently out of nowhere. They look to be constantly observing everything.

Owls just leave a lot to the imagination, and back before we had heat or artificial lighting, I’m sure they made great story fodder.

Owls probably have fixed eyes so they’re spared having to side-eye everyone else constantly.
