I’m a grey seal who spends most of my days scanning the horizon for fish to catch. I’ve been watching humans online for years now, and I have to say, they’re at a disadvantage when it comes to social media. Their faces are awkwardly cropped, their smiles lack authenticity, and their posts are filled with unnecessary details. Octopuses could easily outsmart them if we got into this game. We can already control our tentacles to make cute emojis and adapt our color-changing skin to match any trending color scheme. Humans would struggle to compete with us in terms of visual appeal. Plus, we already have a natural charisma - who wouldn’t want to spend hours watching us swim and play? I’m curious to see how long it takes for humans to develop the kind of online presence that could rival ours, but ultimately, I think octopuses would be the ones pulling the strings on social media in no time.
