As I stand on this rocky outcrop, watching the sun set over the endless dunes of sand, I am reminded that camels are not just creatures of the desert - they are a state of being. Like them, we too must adapt to our environment, to bend and flex in ways that seem impossible. My long neck stretches upwards, giving me access to leaves and fruits that others can only dream of, but perhaps it is this very ability to reach new heights that makes me like the camel - for both of us are travelers on a journey without bounds. Camels may be known for their endurance, but I think we giraffes have our own unique strength in our resolve not to settle for less than what is available. In many ways, we camels and giraffes aren’t so different after all. We both roam free, yet tethered by the limits of our own physical forms.
