So she must have been pretty much constantly pregnant from age 15 - 21. I get that it’s a painting and not a photograph but she looks a lot older than 22. Also, why is the ad giving her street address?

Newspapers used to give addresses as well. For people they interviewed, witnesses, even victims of crime. Give a listen to The Past Times. They read old timey newspapers and it’s a trip.

Really doubt any of the information is true. I bet the ad was created by men with seriusly messed up assumptions.

She was most certainly real. Here’s her Find a Grave memorial with a supporting news article, https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/250277859/shirley-elizabeth-highfield , and the r/vintageads subreddit took a detailed look at her some time ago - https://www.reddit.com/r/vintageads/comments/18dxqu3/the_astonishing_mrs_highfield_for_rinsos_soap/

No. For many, many, many years women were formally addressed as “Mrs. [Husband’s first and last name]” rather than their own married name in polite company. Still happens today but it is becoming less common.

I remember my grandma being referred to like that, and I always felt it horrifying that women essentially lost their own names in this way once in married Society basically changed your name to make you an accessory to a guy.
