I love that scene too. When Kirk first mentioned if it was New York, I just blindly assumed that the writers and producers were just going to go in that direction. I was partly sad that Toronto was going to masked over as another American city but at the same time nostalgically looking forward to seeing the city any way.
It was both a sigh of relief and a big smile when La’an looked at Kirk like he was an idiot and told him it was Toronto.
