Why do many people dislike Linux? Freedom and openness: Open source, No vendor lock-in, Many distributions Security: By default, more secure than Windows. Fewer viruses. Regular security updates.
And now briefly.
Control & Flexibility,Free, Developer Friendly, Productivity, Education & Understanding, Support & Community, Support & Community, Package Managers, Server & Cloud Friendly
Oh yeah, I forgot about our gamers! They will whine that you can’t play games on Linux. It’s very funny because for a long time there has been a program called lux-wine that allows you to open 95% of .exe programs and even more so you can choose any version of Windows without downloading anything, there is like proton and so on.
I am ready to talk to anyone about this topic, but not for the purpose of humiliation or insult.
I don’t know anybody that actively dislikes Linux. I do know a lot of people that only knows it by name though. And I don’t see the need to create strawman rivalry with users of another operating system because I don’t use Linux to augment my personality. But maybe that’s just me.
It’s not that they actively dislike it, or even remotely. It’s just that they’re used to Windows or MacOS better.
Well, there is some truth here too.
I do, I do.
Are we married now?
No offense but I hope not 😀
Most people don’t know how to use it and they’re not willing to learn. They stick to what they know and younger ones aren’t that into compurers anyway.
100% this.
I wouldn’t say so, because many people use PCs, but I agree that they are lazy and don’t want to spend a couple of months learning the OS to use it the way they want, at the speed they need, etc. But that doesn’t change the fact that when they first started using their PCs, they spent time learning the OS (they just weren’t told about Linux, heh)
Honestly, the number of times I had to explain what ctrl+c and ctrl+v do is disturbing. Turned out a bunch of people replaced computers with phones which is fine, but made me wonder what the hell they did in schools.
Here, to be honest, there is some truth, since the phone is more convenient and you can be anywhere with it. BUT this does not mean that the PC is crap, since even when doing firmware on the phone, you can simply be left without it (turn it into a brick), but on the PC you can run ANY DEVICE, including a phone.
Who said crap? I much prefer them. Not a big fan of phones tbh. But people in their early 20s seem to prefer phones, at least those I worked with. They learn fast, but it surprised me some basic (to me) stuff is not convered in schools.
Probably each school has its own approach

You learn to use the same operating system in school/work and never want to try anything different.
Change scares many older folk, young kids don’t like linux cuz they can’t play roblox
oh it’s this discussion again
Most people don’t think of operating systems. They think software and hardware is an all in one deal. It’s not Linux, it’s android. It’s not windows, it’s a PC. Ect…
We had Linux laptops/desktops for public users a while back and it worked out well. Most people use a browser anyways instead of specific programs.

I’m a bit confused on what you mean?
Well, there are sites that will help better than programs and vice versa.
If I understand correctly you are responding to my comment about browser specific applications that were publicly available.
In this case it was a public library that would have around 23,000 university students that would be in/out of the place. It was an awesome job. Most people end up using the browser over programs. We had stats over the laptops/desktops that would get checked out. It was about even. Windows vs Linux. We didn’t make a huge deal over it.

Why did you write as if I insulted Linux?
