Honestly most of the people who are banned are for silly reasons. At best, they can extend it to a few months but a site wide ip ban forever? Isn’t that a stretch?

I’ll tell you why I got banned - I have two accounts and I got banned from one subreddit for making a meta comment. I switched to my other account and commented unknowingly that it’s not allowed. My comment didn’t include any abuse, being mean, bullying or harassment. Next, a satire post was made on a sub and I gave a satirical reply (again no abuse etc) and it even receive 800+ up votes but guess what? I’m banned for identity related hate? It was a temp ban and I waited for it to get over. What I didn’t realize was that sub 1 banned me permanently in this duration and I happened to comment there - again a harmless comment like “xyz walked out” and lo and behold i have a permanent ban now.

I feel the mods on reddit are on a power trip and are really going to be the reason for its doom.

I’m still not sure why I was perma-banned, I know I had some thoughts the day off about what I might have commented, but now it’s been many months and I wouldn’t even know how to look anything up. I think I’d had around 4 accounts over 10 years with easily 1m karma. The last two I just used interchangeably on different devices. One got banned and all I had to do was open the other one and it was immediately banned, too. Probably by IP address. I used the site a lot, I was a top 1% commenter in lots of subs. ¯_( ͡❛ ͜ʖ ͡❛)_/¯
