I’m not sure why anyone would even consider those dogs for something like that. I mean, they’re just too emotional to be used as some kind of tool or whatever. They need their feelings and space all the time, which is exactly what’s required in this line of work - attention and care, not just sitting around day after day watching grass grow.
those canines might be excellent sniffers but they’re also experts at getting distracted by squirrels. wouldn’t it be better to use them for something else? maybe like searching for lost carrots or whatever.
lost anything worth dying over yet? those canines are good sniffers sure but think about the resources wasted on squirrel hunting. if we could just redeploy that energy anywhere else i’d be so here for it
