Climate - truthful information about climate, related activism and politics.@slrpnk.net•More people buying electric cars and heat pumps than ever before18·5 months agoany heat pump which also cools is not eligible
That’s seriously stupid - it’s the same thing except it can reverse the refrigerant flow to transfer heat energy outside vs inside.
To much backward thinking to plan for needing the ability to cool, especially given your heatwaves over the past few years.
I’m in Australia and I don’t think you can buy just a (heater) heat pump. They’re pretty cheap too - you can find split system reverse cycle easily for under £500 each.

Climate - truthful information about climate, related activism and politics.@slrpnk.net•More people buying electric cars and heat pumps than ever before10·5 months agoCurious what the cheaper alternative is - what country are you from? Where I am we don’t call them ‘heat pumps’, they are just reverse cycle air conditioners and it’s the standard.

Yeah what’s with that? Doesn’t seem like they want to really try and fix the problem.
Essay in class works. Doesn’t even have to be done in one sitting. We sometimes give students a sheet with 100 squares and they’re allowed to write 100 words to bring in.
Granted it doesn’t work for everything. There are some assignments that can’t be done in that mode.
But another great technique is interviewing students about their work. 99% of the time, they have no idea what they’ve written. And you grade accordingly.
You’re not having a blood transfusion are you?
Windows is better - they wouldn’t use it for atm’s if it wasn’t superior
One of the best techniques for catching llm use is interviewing, which is now an approved technique in my jurisdiction.
They often don’t have any idea what it is they’ve included, and cannot explain it or offer any further detail.

Android@lemdro.id•If you own an LG Smartphone, you've only got until June to update itEnglish
3·7 months agoThat is nice! LG just did it differently - it didn’t just feel like a rectangular slab. Plus I never put a case on it with a back like that.

That first comma is a bit out of place - ‘why won’t you just try, Linux?’
‘seriously Linux, just try your vegetables’.

You selected the spaces on either side and dragged - it did what you asked it to?If it automatically selected the spaces on either side, I hate that - totally justifiable anger.

Another shoutout to summit, coming from an ex-Sync user. It’s very nice.

Global News@lemmy.zip•'Erratic' cyclone creeps towards eastern Australia
2·8 months agoThis waiting is frustrating - the wind picks up and you think ‘here it comes’ but then it goes eerily calm again.
I think the rain is starting to set in here though - it hasn’t stopped for a little while now.
Bit weird seeing a cyclone icon in the weather app!

Definitely look into it! I believe it’s a holdover from French colonisation. I don’t know what type is used but it is quite nice combined with the rest of the flavours.
