AI really loves to steal from fanfiction on sites likeAo3 and blog/forum posts— All places where em-dashes are common. AI uses them because people use them. I’m not going to change how I write because someone else built a plagiarism machine.
I did get accused of using ChatGPT to write something once, based on my use of em-dashes. Kinda just had to laugh though because it was something I’d published in 2014.
Before my permaban, I received a warning for saying “Luigi”. In a Nintendo sub, while talking about the Mario brother. Comment got removed for “inciting violence”.
My cousin’s permaban was for saying “I won’t let a single saiyan live” in a dragon ball sub. This was “inciting violence”. It’s a line from the anime, and saiyans don’t actually exist, but the appeal went nowhere.
You mean he lied? But that’s so unlike him!
(Shoots self) “Ha! Take that, Libs!”
Meanwhile, they’re banning old, established accounts in massive waves. I’m not sure who they want using the site. New accounts aren’t allowed to post anything, and old accounts get kicked out.
I got a fifteen year old account permabanned for reporting someone that kept calling me slurs. Appeal got tossed out. I’ve since moved to an entirely different country and got all new devices, but my attempt at making a new account was still permabanned for ban evasion before I even made a comment or joined any subs. Lasted about two hours.
It’s very excessive. And now I’m genuinely curious what all they use to determine which accounts belong to former users. It’s quite odd that they were able to figure it out when I’m not in the same part of the world anymore, was on a brand new device, was using a new email address to sign up, and hadn’t even joined any of my former subreddits or said anything. Or is there just an over-sensitive AI that autobans a lot of new accounts just in case now?
Was planning to use it to just help with settling in where I’m living now, but I guess not lol
They have AI automatically banning a lot of long-term users for very odd and flimsy reasons, the appeals process is nonexistent, and the bans are permanent. Meanwhile, the site is being overrun with bots. Obviously, bots have been on the platform for a long time, but there’s been a definite uptick recently.
If they keep throwing out their real users and letting bots generate everything, people are going to exit Reddit, if for no other reason than they’re just kicked out.
When I was in school, you got changed in the stalls in the locker room and not out in the open. Does she not know how stalls work?
The Christmas Shoes.
Considering the reasons people are getting decade+ old accounts permanently IP banned with no chance of appeal, it’s like they’re trying to turn the website into a read-only platform for AI generated content.
Like, I got my whole household permabanned for reporting someone that was calling me bigoted slurs. Been on the site for fifteen years, but that was enough for them to decide that I, and anyone who lives with me, is too dangerous to keep around.
People are also getting permanent IP bans for things like quoting TV shows in fandom subs dedicated to said shows, upvoting particular comments, criticizing Israel, and a whole host of other things that make no sense. (Example: My cousin is permabanned for saying “I won’t let a single Saiyan live” in a Dragon Ball Z subreddit, which was “inciting violence.” If you’re unfamiliar with the show, that’s literally just a line from it…)
If you make a new account afterwards, you’ll be instantly banned. And most subs won’t even let new accounts post, so even if your new one manages to survive for a bit, you can’t do anything with it.
Near as I can tell, it started around the beginning of the year when Elon got his feelings hurt because there were subs making fun of him and his DOGE crew. Can’t say for sure if that’s what prompted this current mess, but that’s my personal theory at the moment.
He understood that this happened somewhere 3 hours away from Austin, right?
I think Fuentes and his fans started calling themselves Groypers before anyone else did, right?
They falsely claimed the “engravings” were something to do with “trans ideology,” so the benefit is whipping up more hatred.
The TRN was a label put on by the manufacturer of the bullets, which they decided stood for “trans”. There was also a reference to a video game that consisted of a series of arrows, they decided the up and right arrows stood for male to female, then ignored all the other arrows.
Brilliant people working on this case, I’ll tell ya what.
What’s the best alternative for Google?
“Unlike today’s snowflakes I do (incredibly common thing that never went away).”
The population can’t keep growing indefinitely, the planet can’t sustain that.
It was across multiple communities, as the user was following me and responding to everything I said. The comment I reported was in r/memes, and the first place they started hassling me was r/funny.
Once I know it’s alright to do so, I’ll share a screenshot of one of the messages they sent to me.
Got kicked off Reddit for reporting transphobic harassment, so the decision was easy.
