I kinda don’t fit in both. I need reasonable steady income/wealth (as soon as it covers food, a car, an apartment, gym, some clothes, … for me and some relatives) so I can do other stuff.
This will be centered around volunteering in different ways (open source, research, …) without fearing going homeless the moment I disagree with someone.
Given my low cost geo location, I am closer to this than ever.
There is a rush for some countries to have their own exchangers to convert local residents for tax & fraud reasons. But if I am to build such a large complex system on my own, I would just have it all.
But what’s wrong with active development on a legacy code base? Sure those FIXMEs and TODOs should be cleaned up as that’s obvious tech debt, but besides that?
I don’t think FIXMEs & TODOs are a problem either if you have a system on how to deal with them over time…
CTOs are not architects, so much is clear and this project shows issues running deep in your companies culture.
How could you tell? because yes, everything turns into a dick measuring contest (in PRs)

I fail to understand how a technology can be a scam. How is Blockchain a scam? nosql is also a scam? what does a scam mean when talking about a technology?
Try to keep an open mind, some things might not work for you, but somebody else will find it great.
I see a similar sentiment with being anti AI (they mean anti LLMs), like what are they against? the transformer architecture? kinda weird, like declaring I am anti math or anti electricity or electronics… I don’t get it.

Check trustpilot, Paypal is universally known to be a dis-functional piece of junk. People perma banned for no reason, scammers still using it without issue, transactions are a hit or miss, you need one account by country (if you happen to go overseas and have a bank account there). I used it like 4 times: paid for goods twice, received a salary, sent my wife some money during covid then we got both perma-banned with 0 reasons given.
(I didn’t want to name names so we will not have 79 levels of replies - “actually …” 🤣)
There’s no model that can differentiate between 7 billion people. They all come with a limit. I didn’t check the current latest model, because a few years ago when I worked in the field, such models shit themselves beyond 20million people.
