I haven’t read Mistborn but it’s on my list. Stormlight Archive (the whole series) also by Brandon Sanderson is the same for me. I think about it all the time and look for excuses to read.

Stormlight archive was the first thing I thought of.

He’s not telling the lie so he can sleep at night, he at best doesn’t care and at worst is straight up evil.

He tells the lie so that idiots who are already prejudiced can point to the “evidence” any time anyone tries to get them to have a shred of compassion for people less fortunate than them.
